Electric Cars For Official Vehicles, This Is A Register Of Officials Ordered To Use Battery-Based Vehicles
YOGYAKARTA President Joko Widodo asked officials to use electric cars as their official vehicles. The instruction does not only apply to central officials, but also regional officials.
Instruction for the use of electric cars for official vehicles is stated in Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery-Banked Electric Motor Vehicles as Vehicles of the Operational and Or Individual Service of Central Government Agencies and Regional Governments.
In the instruction signed on September 13, 2022 by President Jokowi, it was stated that the Presidential Instruction was made as an effort to accelerate the implementation of the program for the use of battery-based electric vehicles or battery vehicles (EVs) as operational service vehicles and/or individual vehicles for the services of central and regional government agencies.
"Take the necessary steps according to their respective main tasks, functions, and authorities to accelerate the implementation of the program for the use of battery-based electric vehicles (battery electric vehicles) as operational service vehicles," said Inpres first director No. 7 of 2022.
The President through Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022 instructed a number of officials to use electric cars as his official cars. However, not all officials are mentioned in the Instruction.
The officials who received the instructions were the Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, Cabinet Secretary, Presidential Chief of Staff, Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Head of the Indonesian National Police, Heads of Non-Ministry Government Institutions, Leaders of the State Institutions Secretariat, Governors and Regents/Mayors.
Although instructing the use of electric vehicles, officials can get it with various schemes, either buying, renting, or converting fuel motorized vehicles into electricity which is carried out in accordance with the applicable law.
Presidential Chief of Staff, General TNI (Ret.) Moeldoko explained that Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022 is a manifestation of the President's commitment to implementing the transition of fossil energy to new and renewable energy.
"To realize the big design of the energy transition, the government begins by transitioning and converting conventional vehicles to electric vehicles," Moeldoko explained, quoted from Antara.
In addition, Presidential Instruction 7/2022 will be a big capital for Indonesia to become the leading country in the world in the energy transition to a more advanced civilization.
"When other countries are competing to save the world from the threat of climate change, we don't just become spectators. We have to be the main actors, and this Presidential Instruction encourages us to make that happen," he said.
In addition, the transition of electric vehicles is also expected to be a solution for fuel subsidies in the APBN which continues to swell. In addition, it can also be a solution to save foreign exchange and create national energy independence.
Regarding foreign exchange savings, the use of electric vehicles is able to save the country's foreign exchange of more than Rp. 2,000 trillion because it helps reduce fuel imports.
"Replaced for cheaper and produced electric vehicles in the country of energy. The state foreign exchange savings can reach more than Rp. 2,000 trillion," he said.
In addition to foreign exchange, the transition to electrical energy is expected to be able to encourage the achievement of net emissions by 2060 in Indonesia.
