Maxime Bouttier Expresses The Process Of Presenting The Indigenous Bali In MovieTicket To Paradise

JAKARTA - Ticket to Paradise film presents Balinese culture as a background. Not only that, actor Maxime Bouttier is also one of the main characters in this film directed by Ol Parker.

Maxime, who once lived in Bali, said he was proud to be able to watch Hollywood films with a local story setting. In addition, he felt the challenge even though he was familiar with Balinese culture.

"We have a consultant from Bali. Mr. Agung. He is the one who plays father. He really gave the idea to the director what his vibe was for and what his views were like," said Maxime Bouttier in Jakarta today, Wednesday, September 14.

However, Ticket to Paradise shooting is done entirely in Australia. This is due to the atmosphere of the COVID-19 pandemic so that production cannot be carried out here.

"Unfortunately, we can only give digital versions because we are still COVID, so they can't come to Indonesia. But they really help," he explained.

Maxime is also challenged to speak with Balinese accents. Spending his childhood in Bali is not enough to make him fully smoothly present this.

"The difficulty is that everything that should be in front of my eyes suddenly doesn't exist. But I've lived in Bali before, so I already have an idea for me," he said.

"They didn't want to be too accentic, so I spoke English. Before I came to Jakarta, I had really thick Balinese accents, but they wanted to be here to give me a little feel of Jakarta, I'm the only one," said Maxime.

Maxime hopes that the Bali portrait in the film Ticket to Paradise can generate tourism in Indonesia. Not only the place, this film also displays an interesting society and tradition to watch.

"With this film, hopefully I can return it. I used to be big in Bali from kindergarten so when I saw it was empty and many were struggling it's sad. This is also the right medium, especially with rom-com, so people enjoy and are interested in it," he said.

Ticket to Paradise tells the story of David (Sael Clooney) and Georgia (Julia Roberts) who fly to Bali. They intend to thwart the daughter's marriage, Lily (Kaitlyn Dever) with a local man named Gede (Maxime Bouttier).

Ticket to Paradise will hit Indonesian cinemas on September 30.
