3 Students Arrested During A Demo In Front Of The Bengkulu DPRD Now Can Comply Again With Families

JAKARTA - The Bengkulu Police Criminal Investigation Gading Operational Team returned three students who had been arrested during a demonstration in front of the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD office because they were accused of being provocateurs.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bengkulu Police, AKP Welliwanto Malau, said the three students were returned to their respective parents after signing the statement. "We have handed over the three students to their parents after the three signed a statement using a materai of Rp. 10,000," said Malau, Wednesday, September 14, quoted from Antara. He explained that the statement letter contained that the three students did not repeat the anarchic actions during a demonstration. The three students were RA and AL from Dehasen University and AP from Fatmawati State Islamic University Bengkulu. He said the three were arrested during a demonstration in front of the Bengkulu Provincial House of Representatives Office (DPRD) for carrying out anarchic and provocateur actions. It is known, during the demonstrations conducted on (13/9) the security forces arrested 15 during the action and 12 of them were released. In addition, the period of the action also suffered injuries due to the clashes that ended in chaos but for the number of injured period could not be ascertained. The riot occurred when the demonstration period asked all members of the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD to meet the period but only 19 members were present, while five other DPRD members were not present.

Feeling dissatisfied, finally the action period tried to occupy the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD Building so that the chaos was unavoidable. However, the security forces intercepted the action with barricades and four water canons and there were tough negotiations between the security forces and the crowd. Not long after, the police fired tear gas and riots unavoidable.
