Legitimate! Chairul Tanjung Conglomerate Controls 26 Percent Of Bengkulu Bank Shares

JAKARTA - PT Mega Corpora officially controls 26 percent of Bengkulu Bank shares after the company owned by national conglomerate and entrepreneur Chairul Tanjung disbursed Rp100 billion in funds.

The acting (Acting) President Director of Bank Bengkulu Ikhwanul Okti said that the joining of PT Mega Corpora was decided at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) which was held on Tuesday, November 24 yesterday.

"Public shares are currently Rp145 billion, while Mega Corpora in its letter will only deposit the purchase of Series A shares amounting to Rp100 billion," said Acting Director of Bank Bengkulu, Ikhwanul Okti, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 25.

Ikhwanul added that with the injection of funds, it was confirmed that Bengkulu Bank would upgrade its status to become a commercial business activity bank (BUKU) II with a core capital of IDR 1 trillion.

According to him, by becoming BUKU II, services at Bank Bengkulu will automatically improve, especially in relation to transaction services for customers.

"In the future, what we will pursue, namely internet banking services, cash management system and credit cards, we will do everything," he said.

Based on the financial statements of Bank Bengkulu on September 30, 2020, the ownership of Bank Bengkulu shares, including the Bengkulu Provincial Government, amounted to 44.28 percent and the rest belonged to 10 district and city governments in Bengkulu.
