Pensiunan PNS Lebih Besar Dari Pendapatan Negara 2023, Burden Atau Kewajiban?

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Finance recently stated that the value of long-term dependents that must be paid to civil servants (PNS) who have retired has reached Rp2,929 trillion.

This figure consists of Rp935.67 trillion of the central government and Rp1,994 trillion of local governments (Pemda).

As a comparison, this total value is even higher when compared to the projected state revenue in the 2023 State Budget Bill which is around Rp2,443 trillion.

So is it a burden for the government?

Citing the statement of the Director General (Dirjen) of the Ministry of Finance's Budget Isa Rachmatawarta, it is known that all civil servants pension payments at the center and in the regions are fully borne by the state budget.

"PNS in the regions is appointed by the regional government, but when they retire is borne by the center. Actually this is not fair," he said some time ago.

On this basis, Isa gave a signal that in the future the local government was asked to participate in paying retired civil servants to reduce pressure on state finances.

"Because the regional civil servants who take advantage of their services are local governments, they must also bear the local government," he said.

For information, in the applicable regulations, the APBN is required to make retirement payments to central and regional civil servants, even after the person concerned dies, it is forwarded to the widow or widow of the retired civil servant.

VOI noted that the realization value of pension payments borne by the central government tends to increase, namely Rp90 trillion in 2018, by Rp99.7 trillion in 2019, by Rp104.9 trillion in 2020.

Then, amounting to Rp112.2 trillion in 2021 and Rp119 trillion for the whole of 2022.
