Recording Via Emmy 2022, Lee Jung Jae And Hwang Dong Hyuk: Hopefully Not Last
JAKARTA - The Squid Game series has again set a new record in the history of broadcasting the series. Lee Jung Jae and Hwang Dong Hyuk received the Emmy 2022 award on Monday, September 12 in Los Angeles.
Lee Jung Jae became the first Asian actor to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Thanks to his role as Gi Hun, he got this award and beat a number of big names in Hollywood.
"To everyone watching from Korea, my friends, family, and fans, I want to share this happiness with you. thank you," said Lee Jung Jae.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk also won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. His name managed to beat director Ozark, Severance, Succession, and Yellow jackets.
In addition, this is the first time a non-English series has won a major award.
People keep saying I'm making history but I don't think it's just me. Because you guys opened the door for Squid Game," Hwang Dong Hyuk said in his speech.
Inviting us here to Emmy, I can say we are all making history together. I hope Squid Game isn't the only non-English title that can exist here," he said.
Hwang Dong Hyuk also confirmed the continuation of Squid Game in his speech.
"I hope this isn't my last Emmy. I'll be back in a second season," he said.
Squid Game players were seen attending the top night of the 2022 Emmy Awards. Apart from Lee Jung Jae and Hwang Dong Hyuk, it is known that Jung Ho Yeon, Park Hae Soo, and Oh Young Soo attended the event.
