Body Burnt At Marina Suspected Of Being A Witness In A Corruption Case In Semarang, The Police Make Sure To Investigate The Continue Road
Central Java - The headless body that caught fire in the Marina area, Semarang City, is suspected to be Iwan Budi Paulus, a witness to alleged corruption in the transfer of assets within the Semarang City Government.
Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol. Dwi Subagyo, said that the possibility did not stop the case.
"The investigation is not affected, it is still being processed," said Dwi in Semarang, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 12.
According to him, Iwan Budi, who has been reported missing since August 24, 2022, is not the only witness his statement needs to uncover the alleged corruption case that occurred in 2010.
Dwi said that other witnesses had been questioned and all parties who were asked for information on the case were important witnesses.
He explained that Iwan Budi was one of the witnesses to the alleged corruption which was scheduled to be questioned at the examination on August 25, 2022. The August 25 examination, he continued, was an official summons to the person concerned.
However, according to him, the police have established communication with Iwan Budi regarding the investigation of the case.
As for the findings of the burning body in the Marina area which led to Iwan Budi, Dwi said it was possible that this was related to the alleged corruption he was handling.
However, he is still waiting for confirmation of the identity of the burned body based on a DNA examination.
Previously, a body was found on fire along with a motorbike in the Marina Beach area, Semarang City, Central Java, Thursday, September 8.
The discovery stems from the finding of a motorcycle that caught fire by one of the land guards belonging to PT Family.
Together with the body and motorbike which are official vehicles belonging to Iwan Budi, a portable computer, identity nameplate, and a cell phone that allegedly belonged to Iwan Budi Paulus were also found.
Iwan Budi was reported missing the day before being examined as a witness at the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police regarding allegations of corruption in the transfer of assets.
