KKP Minister Arrested By KPK, DPR: From The Beginning Disagree On Exporting Lobster Seeds

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IV DPR RI, Dedi Mulyadi also commented on the KPK's arrest of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo. Dedi stated that from the beginning he had refused to export lobster seeds (fries).

"As Deputy Chair of Commission IV, I was consistent from the start in disagreeing with the export of lobster seeds," Dedi told reporters, "Wednesday, November 25.

Dedi refused Edhy's flagship program since taking office, not without reason. He said, lobster seeds are part of the marine ecosystem whose sustainability must be maintained.

"Even though the number is said to be 2 billion, for me it is not important how much. The most important thing for us is that it is part of the sea, part of the ecosystem, let it grow and develop on its own to become catch lobsters and the price is expensive and profitable for fishermen," explained Dedi.

Then, according to him, the age of lobsters that are still in seed condition should not be exploited. Then, another reason for rejection is because lobster seeds are exported to Indonesia's competing country, namely Vietnam.

"They (Vietnam), are competitors in the fields of fisheries and sea. They have the capability and technology of marine cultivation that is adequate. Their ability to cultivate them will be meaningless if they do not get a supply of seeds. This is strange, we have become competitors, how come we send the raw materials, "he said.

Therefore, Dedi will ask the government to stop exporting lobster seeds at the next DPR Commission IV meeting.

"If there is a working meeting with the KKP, I will continue to say that the lobster seeds are stopped," said Dedi.
