As Absorbing 10,000 Workers, The Bandung IKM Center Has The Potential To Drive Economic Growth
BANDUNG - The Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagin) of Bandung City, West Java, said that as many as 28 small and medium industrial centers (IKM) in Bandung City have great potential in an effort to encourage economic growth.
Sub-Coordinator of Industry Center Planning at the Bandung City Disdagin, Rina Santi, said that her party was trying to provide guidance to the dozens of IKMs. The reason is, there are as many as 10,000 workers absorbed by the IKM center in Bandung.
"Our novice IKM treats quality, packaging, and marketing," said Rina, quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 11.
In addition, he said that Disdagin was also preparing a market expansion program for IKM players, namely IKM Go Exports for IKMs who have advanced to class and have good quality.
"So when they have advanced to class, we bring their products outside the city of Bandung," he said.
For now, Rina said the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) also provided space by holding a "Bandung City Industrial Center Festival". The event at Cihampelas Walk, which is still being held this Sunday, featured a number of IKM centers assisted by the Bandung City Government.
Various IKM centers that appeared in the event, according to him, included fashion centers, handicrafts, printing, food products, dolls, and household appliances.
"Our target is to find a new market segment for IKM players. The figure is not grandiose, it can only be Rp. 300 million, which is good," said Rina.
One of the IKM actors from Kampoeng Rajut, Dewi Ratna Purwanti admitted that she was enthusiastic about participating in the Bandung City Industrial Center Festival. He also admitted that he was one of the IKM guided by the Bandung City Government through the Bandung City Disdagin Festival.
"We are guided and encouraged by the Bandung City Government. We get the help of knit machines, HAKI, exhibitions, training and guidance," said Dewi.
