The Loss Of Flood Flow In East Kotawaringin Makes 1 Small Bridge Drow
JAKARTA - Floods that hit dozens of villages in East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim), Central Kalimantan have submerged hundreds of houses. In fact, a small bridge collapsed due to heavy water currents. "There are water levels in several villages ranging from 50 centimeters to 100 centimeters, some have reached 2.5 meters. Rainfall is still high upstream," said Head of BPBD East Kotawaringin, Rihel in Sampit, Friday, September 9, quoted from Antara. Based on reports he received this morning, floods hit Antang Kalang District, Telaga Antang, Bukit Santari, Antang Kalang, Parenggean and Besi City. Floods occurred due to rivers overflowing after almost every day heavy rains this week. BPBD decreased monitoring the development of flooding in a number of locations. Coordination also continues to be carried out with the village government to find out the development of flooding over time.
Some residents have fled to the homes of their relatives who were not affected by the flood. Residents who still survive at the flood site are also advised to always be vigilant for safety if the flood conditions are feared to get worse. The village government has been asked to report residents who are victims of the flood. Reports are also needed to find out if there are residents who need basic needs assistance so that they can be immediately distributed. "Currently in Tewai Hara Village, Bukit Santuai District, Tumbang Manya Village, Tumbang Kalang, Rasahu Grow and Hanjalipan villages are starting to be submerged. Including six villages in Parenggean District, with 341 housing units submerged. For flooding in Tewai Hara, Tumbang Manya, Tumbang Kalang, Rasahu Grow and Hanjalipan, we are still coordinating regarding how many houses are submerged," explained Rihel.
Meanwhile, the swift flood current made the Babi River Bridge in Karang Sari Village, Parenggean District collapse on Thursday (8/9) night. As a result, traffic to Tualan Hulu District was diverted through roads owned by mining companies.
"The Regent has instructed us together with the DPUPR to immediately handle the bridge so that it can be crossed again. We together with the DPUPR will go to the field to make improvements," said the Expert Staff of the East Java Regent for Human Resources and Community Affairs Raihansyah. The community at the flood site is advised to always be aware of the possibility of flooding which is getting worse. Safety must always be prioritized in every situation and action at the disaster site.
