Remember Elizabeth II: In Front Of Fabregas, Ratu Claims To Be A Goer
JAKARTA - In 2007, Arsenal players were given a tour around Buckingham Palace by Queen Elizabreeth II. According to Cesc Fabregas, who was still called the 'witch boy' at the time, the Queen said she was a Goerer (Arsenal fan).
"It looks like the Queen is following football and she told us she was an Arsenal fan," Fabregas said at the time.
"He seems to really know who I am and we spoke a few special words."
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said the Queen, during her reign, had watched a number of football matches and often presented trophies in the FA Cup Finals.
"However, Prince William is now the FA president and he has handed over this job to him," the spokesman said.
He then asserted that the Queen would remain neutral in terms of providing support to English football clubs.
"Which team he supports is not something we will know about," he concluded.
Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, Thursday local time.
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Along with many of our supporters today, we will be taking time to mourn and reflect on Her Majesty’s incredible life and devoted service.
