Martin Braithwaite Bring Barcelona To The Round Of 16

JAKARTA - Martin Braithwaite scored two goals to take Barcelona to the last 16 of the Champions League after defeating Dynamo Kiev 4-0 in the fourth Group G match at the NSK Olympiyskiy Stadium, Kiev, Ukraine, this Wednesday morning WIB.

The victory solidified Barcelona's position, which won 12 full points at the top of Group G, so that they stepped into the last 16 with Juventus (9), which in another match also won, said Antara's official UEFA website.

Even without Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona appeared dominant but almost fell behind at the end of the first half if goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen had not made a brilliant save to block Carlos de Pena's sharp cross.

Seven minutes into the second half, Barcelona were able to open the scoring through Sergino Dest's shot which completed Braithwaite's feedback into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Five minutes later, Braihwaite scored his first goal to double Barcelona's lead with a flick in front of the net to catch Oscar Mingueza's header in a corner.

A two-goal lead made Barcelona more confident in dominating the game and awarded a penalty after Braithwaite was pushed in an aerial duel by Denys Popov in the 69th minute.

Facing the penalty himself, Braithwaite converted with a powerful shot that did not allow goalkeeper George Buschan to make a save.

Barcelona's victory was completed by Antoine Griezmann who came on for Philippe Coutinho from the 66th minute through his goal in the second minute of the injury period after completing Jordi Alba's bait.

Barcelona next visit Ferencvaros' headquarters in Hungary next Wednesday but three days earlier host Osasuna in a La Liga match.
