Waiting For Erick Thohir's Summons In The Jiwasraya Case

JAKARTA - The Jiwasraya Commission VI Working Committee (Panja) has begun compiling a meeting agenda for next week. As a first step in investigating this case, the Panja will summon BUMN Minister Erick Tohir and the board of directors of PT Jiwasraya.

Chairman of the Jiwasraya Panja, Aria Bima said, after determining the members, the Panja held a closed first meeting to discuss several matters related to the Jiwasraya issue. One of the topics discussed was the agenda for the summons of a number of parties related to the state-owned company.

"On Tuesday, at 13.00 WIB we invite experts. After that, on Wednesday we are scheduled to invite the Minister of BUMN (Erick Tohir) along with senior officials of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya," he said, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

During the Jiwasraya Panja meeting which took place closed, Aria explained, if all members had agreed on one common goal, namely the Panja worked as a supervisory system in accelerating the resolution of cases. Apart from that, it will also focus on the restructuring of the Jiwasraya company.

"How can the arrears that have failed to pay yesterday be resolved as quickly as possible," he said.

Work without Democrats

Aria Bima said that until now the Democrat Party was adamant that it had not submitted its name to participate in the Jiwasraya Panja. The Democratic faction still wants Jiwasraya's supervision to be carried out through a special committee (special committee).

"It has been conveyed that they did not send (names). Because the Democratic Faction will try to provide input to other factions, so that the settlement of the problem of default is more effective using the special committee instrument mechanism," he said.

According to Aria, the panja will continue to work without the participation of the Democratic Faction. "Without (Democrats). Did not attend the panja event and we do not question it, because of the nine factions eight have agreed," he said.

As is known, Jiwasraya, a state-owned insurance company that is threatened with bankruptcy. The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) said that the insurance BUMN had failed to pay Rp. 13.7 trillion. Jiwasraya, also experienced a financial deficit of Rp. 27.2 trillion.

The Attorney General's Office has named five suspects in the alleged corruption case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya. They are the President Commissioner of PT Trada Alam Minera Heru Hidayat, President Commissioner of PT Hanson International Tbk Benny Tjokrosaputro, former President Director of PT Jiwasraya Hendrisman Rahim, former Finance Director of PT Jiwasraya (Persero) Hary Prasetyo and former Head of Jiwasraya Investment Division Syahmirwan.

Regarding the investigation at the Attorney General's Office, the tracking and confiscation of assets have been carried out. Attorney General Burhanudin said that investigators had seized 1,400 land certificates. Apart from immovable assets, a number of valuables and vehicles that were accused of being the result of alleged corruption were also confiscated.
