Komnas HAM Forms Of The Ad Hoc Team For Investigation Of Munir Murder, Immediately Speed Investigation
JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) formed an Ad Hoc Team for Investigation of gross human rights violations of Munir Said Talib's murder by appointing two commissioners representing the internal institution."First, I myself Ahmad Taufan Damanik and second Mrs. Sandrayati Moniaga," said Komnas HAM Chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 7.In addition, he explained, there are three names that have been proposed by the civil society coalition, including from the Solidarity Action Committee for Munir (Kasum). The names offered are currently being considered and contacted by Komnas HAM."One of the three names contacted has expressed a willingness, namely Usman Hamid," said Taufan.Meanwhile, two more names who are being contacted so far have not provided an answer to their willingness so that they cannot be conveyed to the public. In the near future, the Ad Hoc Team that was formed will begin to conduct a pro-justitia investigation based on Law Number 26 of 2000 concerning the Human Rights Court.The results of the team's investigation, he said, would then be submitted to the plenary session to be discussed and followed up. "In the plenary session, it will be later that there will be a legal status for Munir's murder," he said.As additional information, since September 7, 2021 Komnas HAM has designated it as the Day of Protection of Human Rights Defenders."Since last year we have designated September 7 as the Day of Protection of Human Rights Defenders," he said.Another commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission, Sandrayati Moniaga, said that the determination of September 7 as Human Rights Defenders' Day in Indonesia could not be separated from the day the death of the late Munir.
