Arrested In Fraud Thousands Of Wong Cilik In Kupang, PDIP Volunteers Directly Flyed To The Southwest Sumba Police Headquarters
KUPANG - A team of investigators from the Southwest Sumba Police (SBD) of East Nusa Tenggara arrested YL who claimed to be the coordinator of PDI-P volunteers related to fraud cases against thousands of children regarding housing programs in the area.Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Southwest Sumba Police, Iptu Yohanes Balla, said that after being arrested in Kupang, YL was immediately questioned at the NTT Police Headquarters.“ YL was previously secured at the NTT Police Headquarters for questioning by investigators from the Sub-Directorate III/Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda NTT,” he said when contacted from Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, September 7.After being arrested in Kupang City, YL was immediately flown to the jurisdiction of the Southwest Sumba Police (SBD) to undergo further investigation.The perpetrator himself when he departed from Kupang City until he arrived at Tambolaka airport, Southwest Sumba wearing clothes bearing the PDI-P symbol.Previously, the Southwest Sumba Police (SBD) had arrested five residents who were also PDI-P volunteers for defrauding residents in Southwest Sumba to obtain a decent housing program.Based on the results of the interim investigation, the five suspects have also admitted their actions.In carrying out their actions, the suspects came to residents who wanted to get house assistance. From residents who want to get an aid house, they are asked to deposit Rp. 200 thousand per person.This case was revealed after a resident and victim of a fraud named Stefanus Umbu Pati reported it to the local police.The incident began in April 2022, when the suspect MK, who claimed to be the head of the political party volunteers, socialized the housing assistance program to the community in Delo Village, South Wewewa District, Southwest Sumba Regency.There were around 1,300 people who were interested and a crowd registered by depositing a registration fee of Rp. 200 thousand accompanied by photocopies of family cards and identity cards. Of the 1,300 people who registered, the perpetrators managed to collect Rp260 million.However, the house assistance that residents had been waiting for, had not been obtained, so residents then reported the incident to the police.The police then sent a summons to the volunteers.However, they did not come to the Southwest Sumba Police to provide information so they were finally arrested at the PDI-P volunteer post.
