INA-Waskita Trans Java Trans Toll Road, Minister Of SOEs: Infrastructure Evidence Can Be Built Without Debt

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir welcomed the completion of investment cooperation transactions between the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) and PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) along with its subsidiary PT Waskita Toll Road (WTTR), for two sections of the Trans Java Toll Road, namely the Kanci-Pejagan Toll Road and the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road.

The cooperation and agreement on disbursement of funds from INA, through a wholly owned subsidiary of the Indonesian investment management agency, namely PT Rafflesia Investasi Indonesia (RII) and PT Abhinaya Investasi Indonesia (AII) made Waskita Karya's cash flow stronger for the development of further projects.

Erick said, under any circumstances, infrastructure development must continue.

With this scheme, continued Erick, it can be proven that infrastructure can be built with investment.

"And most importantly, without debt. So in terms of position on the balance sheet, it is better, it is not a burden for companies that are assigned, such as Waskita Karya Group," he said, quoted Wednesday, September 7.

Furthermore, Erick said, in the midst of a global crisis that affected the currency exchange rate between countries, ideal infrastructure development did use investment funds, and not from loans.

Therefore, he appreciates the involvement of many parties who collaborate and synergize to support the fund capacity so that INA investment runs optimally in accelerating toll road infrastructure in the country.

According to Erick, collaboration with INA can ensure that the state-owned assets that have been invested, both from government funds and the results of this state-owned corporate action, can be polarized properly.

"And this is certainly a sustainable part where we will encourage more SOE assets to be open, transparent and carried out market mechanisms," said Erick.

This investment, he continued, is part of the credibility so that investors can believe that this is a very good momentum for Indonesia in opening Indonesia's economic growth and is the center of world economic growth.

"We at the Ministry of SOEs will continue to encourage restructuring in BUMN-BUMN Karya, and we can also prove that infrastructure does take time to recover. So, it's not like what is always perceived, that toll road investment is stalled. It's not like that," he explained.
