Bringing Nikita Mirzani's Banner, Surabaya Residents Hold Action Against Rizieq Shihab's Arrival
SURABAYA - The action against Rizieq Shihab's planned arrival was held in Surabaya, East Java. Some carried a Nikita Mirzani banner.
By unfurling various banners, a number of elements of society who are members of the Surabaya Citizen Element voiced their rejection of Rizieq's planned arrival in a demonstration in front of the Grahadi State building in Surabaya.
The Action Coordinator, Ahmad Jazuli, said that he conveyed this rejection because the arrival of Habib Rizieq Sihab was deemed to bring bad luck to the situation in East Java which was already considered conducive.
"This is an act of solidarity for us residents of East Java, especially Surabaya. So we reject the presence of Habib Rizieq and will block the planned visit as a form of East Java residents who love peace and do not like chaos," said Jazuli, Tuesday, November 24.
He said the FPI movement was endangering the unity of Indonesia. Moreover, according to Jazuli the statements made can divide residents.
"Second, the COVID-19 issue has not been resolved. Our concern is that this will become a new cluster, especially since East Java has already entered the green zone. We do not want to become a red zone because it will worry all parties," he explained.
Asked about the photo of artist Nikita Mirzani who was also carried on the demo banner, Jazuli said that Nikita was a symbol of resistance to Rizieq. Nikita is considered brave enough to fight forms of hate speech that have been happening so far.
"Nikita is a symbol of resistance, a figure representing women associated with fighting hate speech, fighting against sheep and so on," he said.
The action, which was escorted by the police, went in an orderly manner. After giving the oration, the masses dispersed.
