While the others, confirmed some matches between the user profile and the video posted under the ID in the database notes displayed, stressing that the details can be publicly accessible data that can be made without a violation.

TikTok is a globally well-known social media app, with more than one billion users per month. It has become an captivating attraction for cybercriminals trying to infiltrate user accounts and steal sensitive data.

According to Kaspersky, if the allegations on the Breach Forums messaging board are true, this could be a serious problem for many users.

If the alleged database record is a user login credentials, the consequences could range from increased activity by attackers sending them spam or phishing messages, which would risk losing banking details and personal information, even hacking accounts on TikTok.

As many celebrities and bloggers use TikTok as their main source of communication with the audience, cybercriminals may be able to harm their accounts by publicizing private videos, sending messages, and uploading videos on behalf of the person concerned.

The extent of the consequences depends on how the company handles passwords, if passwords are held, chances are much less.

Kaspersky recommends TikTok users, who fear their account credentials may have been compromised, to change their passwords, said David Emmm, lead security researcher at GReAT Kaspersky, in an official statement received by VOI in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 6.

According to David, with Kaspersky Password Manager, you can monitor the security of all your passwords in real-time.

"To reduce the risk of someone taking over your account, Kaspersky also suggests implementing two-factor authentication, which is the right policy for any online account," he added.
