Shin Tae-yong Depends Two U-19 National Team Players For Discipline

JAKARTA - The U-19 national team coach sent home two of his squad, Serdy Ephy Fano and Mochamad Yudha Febrian, from training camp (TC) in Jakarta starting Monday, November 23. Both are considered to be disciplinary.

"They have taken heavy industrial actions. We immediately sent them home," said Shin, quoted by Antara from the official website of PSSI in Jakarta, Tuesday.

However, neither Shin nor PSSI explained in detail what kind of indiscipline was practiced by Serdy and Yudha.

For Serdy, this was Shin Tae-yong's second write-down. Previously, ahead of his departure for Croatia at the end of August 2020, the attacking player was thrown out of the team because he was late for training.

Meanwhile for Yudha, who participated in the U-19 national team TC in Croatia, returning home was the first experience.

Previously, the left-back's footsteps had never been tainted with sanctions when he strengthened for the U-16 national team, U-19 national team and the Garuda Select team in England.

Shin's decision for Serdy and Yudha was fully supported by PSSI.

PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan emphasized that all U-19 national team players, who are being prepared for the U-20 World Cup in 2021, must follow all applicable rules.

Apart from that discipline is the main provision as an athlete, every U-19 national team activity is also financed by the state through the state budget which comes from the people.

"The money used is from the people. So all players must be serious. Don't play games. If you play games, you will definitely write them off, for example what happened to the two players," said Iriawan.

The U-19 national team is undergoing a training camp in Jakarta, as preparation for the U-19 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan at the U-20 World Cup in 2021.

Coach Shin Tae-yong himself was not at the location, but continued to monitor the progress of his foster children via virtual.

With the elimination of two players, currently there are 36 players participating in the TC.
