Polri Holds Patrol With TNI Ahead Of OPM Anniversary

JAKARTA - The National Police will hold a large patrol with the TNI to prevent security disturbances in Papua. The patrol plan is to be held ahead of the Anniversary (HUT) of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) on December 1.

"We, together with the TNI, will carry out major patrols related to anticipating and preventing unwanted things from happening," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Monday, November 23.

Not only that, the National Police will also collaborate with community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders. The police want to ensure that the security situation in Papua remains conducive.

"So that the people there can conducive to carry out daily life under the auspices of the Republic of Indonesia," said Awi.

Awi also appealed to the Papuan people not to get involved in any celebrations related to OPM. This is because the group is an unconstitutional organization and always tries to separate itself from Indonesia.

"OPM is unconstitutional. It is hoped that our colleagues in Papua will not hold the anniversary. Polri and TNI will continue to carry out large-scale patrols so that there will be no disturbance of security and social security there," he said.
