CONCACAF Learn Quota For The 2026 World Cup
JAKARTA - The 2026 World Cup will become the center of attention of the CONCACAF. The reason is, the grand four-year tournament will be held in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
As a result, FIFA should consider how many qualifying places the confederation will get, with eight participants from the region.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that the CONCACAF will have six direct slots in which three of them go directly to the host country.
The other three will be contested by other countries in qualifying. With the exit of the three giants of this region who act as hosts, some teams with little or no World Cup experiences will be able to dream big.
In addition to the six places, two more places will also be contested through the playoffs. That means, CONCACAF can have twice as many quotas compared to the previous World Cup.
The increase in the number of teams is also due to a change in the format in the World Cup, which will change from 32 to 46 teams by 2026. As a result, various confederations will experience an increase in quotas.
