Had Reported Dengue Fever, Now Surya Paloh Tested Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Nasdem Party Surya Paloh was tested positive for COVID-19. Paloh was previously informed that he was being treated for dengue fever.

"Yes, I have this news (Surya Paloh is positive for COVID-19," Nasdem Party Secretary General Jhonny G. Plate told reporters, Monday, November 23.

Jhonny said that currently the Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital (RSAPD) medical team was conducting further observations on Paloh's health condition.

Jhonny did not explain the exact time Paloh was infected with the corona virus. What is clear, he said, is that Paloh always applies health protocols when doing activities.

"So far, he has implemented health protocols in an orderly and disciplined manner, but the Covid 19 virus can originate and spread from and to anywhere without knowing it," he explained.

Before testing positive for COVID-19, Paloh had been treated at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital since Tuesday, November 17 evening. However, at that time Paloh was reportedly suffering from dengue fever (DHF).

"Last night, when he was examined by a team of doctors, Pak Surya's platelets indeed decreased, although still within normal limits. The doctor said that Surya had dengue fever," said the Head of Media and Public Communication Division of the NasDem DPP, Charles Meikyansah, Wednesday, November 18.

According to Charles, Paloh was given the choice to undergo treatment at home or treatment at the hospital. However, Paloh chose to be treated intensively at the RSPAD.

"In order to get better treatment, Mr. Surya asked to be hospitalized. We ask for prayers from everyone, God willing, Mr. Surya will recover quickly and return to his normal activities," he concluded.
