Erick Thohir Calls The Utilization Of 5G Mining Technology Will Freeport 25 Percent Production Certificate

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Eirck Thohir ensured that PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is following in the footsteps of mining industries in a number of countries such as the United States, China, and Europe, especially in terms of utilizing renewable technology for mining operations.

This statement was made by Erick Thohir in front of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the launch of 5G Mining technology in the PT Freeport Indonesia area, Tembagapura, Papua.

Erick explained that the use of 5G technology for company operations has proven to be successful in increasing productivity by up to 25 percent.

Not only that, continued Erick, 5G technology can also reduce operational costs in the form of drilling up to 40 percent. Meanwhile, energy savings reached 20 percent.

"This 5G mining has been running in America, Sweden, China, and Russia. Where the results can increase productivity to 25 percent. Then, operational costs, especially drilling, can decrease to 40 percent. And of course energy savings is 20 percent," said Erick, Thursday, September 1.

Erick said, as the majority shareholder, the Ministry of SOEs ensures that it will continue to benchmark with mining industries abroad. In particular, related to the use of the latest technology for the operations of MIND ID members.

"What we are asking for is that we will try benchmarking all MIND ID groups. Not only operations, but also digitalization of MIND ID," he explained.

Erick also ensured that the transformation of the domestic mining industry would continue to be carried out. This is done to strengthen downstreaming and all its derivatives according to President Jokowi's directives and requests.

"mining is no less important, this is a very serious program that Mr. (President Jokowi) encourages, it is nothing but downstreaming of mining and all its derivatives," he said.
