President Jokowi Appreciation For '5G Mining' Technology Freeport, 99 Percent For Local Labor Filled
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo appreciates 5G Smart Mining technology in mining activities owned by PT Freeport Indonesia which is operated 99 percent by local workers, especially residents from Papua.This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the launch of 5G Smart Mining technology in the Grasberg Mining area, Mimika, Papua, Thursday, September 1."What I am happy about is 99 percent of the total employees who previously controlled it, operating is native to Indonesia, especially from Papua," said President Jokowi as witnessed virtually through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account, quoted from Antara.The President explained that the operation of PT Freeport Indonesia's 5G Smart Mining technology (PTFI) is the first technology implemented in Southeast Asia.The 5G Mining technology itself is the result of collaboration between Telkom Group and PTFI which aims to support remote automation and control, as well as improve work safety and mining productivity in PTFI.This technology, said the President, can monitor mining activities by using cameras connected to artificial intelligence so that they can minimize work safety risks.According to the President, this 5G Mining technology will make PTFI even more accountable in the world mining sector."This technology will make PT Freeport Indonesia more accountable and produce more and more quality human resources in the world mining sector and contribute greatly to the progress of the Indonesian mining industry," said the President.Previously, President Jokowi also appreciated Freeport's significant contribution which reached 68 percent for the Mimika Regency economy.With this contribution, Freeport also made a big contribution to the economy in Papua.
