BPS: Inflation August 2022 As Large As 4.69 Percent, Lower Than July 2022
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that there was an inflation of 4.69 percent year on year (yoy) in August 2022.
Head of BPS Margo Yuwono said the level was lower than the July 2022 period which was 4.94 percent.
"The core inflation year on year is influenced by the core inflation component caused by several commodity prices, such as fresh fish, house and car rentals," he said when giving a presentation to the media crew on Thursday, September 1.
According to Margo, the increase in core inflation shows that people's demand is still good and people's purchasing power is still good.
"Meanwhile, the price inflation regulated by the government continues to experience an increasing trend," he said.
Then, based on the components of the expenditure group, food, beverages, and tobacco are contributed the most important thing.

Furthermore, for the calendar year or January-August 2022, inflation will occur at 3.63 percent.
To note, 70 of the 90 cities that sample BPS show that there is a more dominant deflation.
