Odd-Even Not Yet Applicable, Police: To Suppress Public Transport Clusters
JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya decided to cancel the odd-even (gage) system in Jakarta again. This decision is to reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially the public transport cluster.
"We are still preventing the spread of COVID-19, especially clusters in public transport," said Head of Sub-Directorate of Gakkum, Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Fahri Siregar told reporters, Monday, November 23.
Sebaba, odd-even application during the pandemic is considered to increase the potential for transmission. When this policy is in effect, it is possible that people will run using public transportation.
This odd-even removal also refers to a decision by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to extend the transitional Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) period by two weeks.
Fahri said, the National Police continued to strive to reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially the public transportation cluster. Moreover, based on positive case data, there was an increase of 14.95 percent in DKI Jakarta for two weeks.
"That's why we anticipate that there are no more positive cases, we prevent clusters in public transportation and we haven't enforced the gage yet," he said.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government again extended the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) for 14 days until 6 December. This step was taken in anticipation of a spike in COVID-19 cases.
The extension of the PSBB for the Transitional Period is based on the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Number 1100 of 2020.
"As we all know, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can implement an emergency brake policy if there is a significant increase in cases or an alarming rate of transmission. This will endanger health system services," said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in a written statement received by VOI, Sunday. , 22 November.
Based on epidemiological data during the implementation of the transitional PSBB in the last two weeks, said Anies, the condition of the Jakarta COVID-19 outbreak was still under control and headed for safety. However, the public still has to be more vigilant and more disciplined in health protocols.
Meanwhile, daily reports of positive cases in Jakarta reached a new record of 1,579 cases per day on Saturday, November 21, yesterday.
"This condition should not make us even more ignorant and undisciplined. Remember, transmission still occurs even though it is slowing down. In the future, we will further strengthen the enforcement of health protocols and we hope that the public will be proactive when they find out about violations," he said.
