Viral Foreign Runners Tagih Award Indonesia International Marathon, KONI Claims Have Been Paid But The Number Is Different From The Announced By The Organizers

JAKARTA - There are many on the social media of the 2022 Indonesia International Marathon champion, Jack Ahear, complaining that he had waited a long time to disburse the prize. As a champion, Jack was actually entitled to a prize of Rp. 150 million.

However, two months later, Jack has not yet received his rights. Jack was also upset because the organizers were irresponsible because it was difficult to contact.

"I won this race, but @indonesiainternationalm Marathon has not given the prize to me and other international winners," tweeted Jack Ahearn on Twitter.

"They (the organizers) are not responsible for this and are trying not to pay the winner fairly. They blocked the phone number and have not responded for two months until now," continued Jack.

The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) as related parties then clarified. KONI admits to providing support to the organizing committee in this case, PT Tata Media Prima or TMP (The Media Palace).

This support includes the issue of funds for the winning prizes that KONI claims have been prepared and distributed to the winners.

On the lagiita.com website, KONI explained that the number of prizes set by them, especially for foreign winners, was different from the value announced by TMP.

"Regarding the issue of the Foreign Runners marathon prize for the winner on behalf of Jack Ahearn, Rp 47.5 million has been transferred to the account concerned in accordance with the agreed provisions (after deducting taxes)," explained KONI Secretary General Lukman Djajakusuma, as quoted on the lagiita.com website.

"As with the other marathon winners, Agus Prayogo said he had received a prize of Rp 112.25 million, as well as the women's marathon runner Odekta Naibaho had received a prize of Rp 112.25 million and other champion runners. All prizes sent to the winners have been taxed," he continued.

Lukman explained that the prizes to Jack Ahearn and several other foreign runners had been sent on August 23, 2022. Meanwhile, domestic runners, have been sent in early July 2022.

"KONI will soon resolve this issue with related parties, especially the organizers, in this case PT.Tata Media Prima. We will always uphold and apply sportsmanship in any case, the responsibility for this existing incident, will be handled. KONI will never issue responsibility related to this issue," continued Lukman.
