75-year-old Player Joins The Egyptian Club To Enter The Record Books
JAKARTA - The third caste club of the Egyptian League, 6th October Club, recruited a 75-year-old player, Ezz El Din Bahader. He is the oldest professional player in the world.
Launching egypttoday.com, Thursday, January 23, the Egyptian Football Association registered Bahader as a professional player. Walid Al-Attar, the executive director of the Federation, receives players and club officials in his office when they come to complete the registration procedure.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is well aware of what stakes are in play and has not shied away from stating them right in the open. Yes, Bahader wanted his name on the Guinness World Records book and he is now on the right track.
“Today, the Egyptian Football Association has registered the oldest professional player in the world during the current winter transfer period. He is Ezz El-Din Bahader who is 75 years old, who signed a contract with the 6th October Club in the third division, "wrote the EFA on his Facebook account.
Bahader is expected to participate in two full matches with his team in order for him to break the record he is chasing.
"He is preparing to enter the Guinness World Encyclopaedia record when he begins his participation with his club," the statement continued.
Bahader will surpass Isaak Hayik's record playing for Israeli League Division IV club Ironi Or Yehuda at the age of 73 in April 2019.
Meanwhile, among the active players, besides Bahader, currently there is also a former Japanese national team striker, Kazuyoshi Miura, who is still grazing at the age of 52 with the J-League 2nd Division club.
