Google Launchs New Features For Meet Apps, Similar To Push To Talk From Zoom
JAKARTA - When Google is carrying out a complicated process, which is actually unnecessary, to combine Meet and Duo applications, Google is now launching features copied from Zoom.
In an update to the Google Workspace blog, the company announced that Google Meet will soon give you the ability to sound your own voice by holding down the space bar and to mute yourself again by releasing it.
If users often use Zoom, this feature may sound very similar to the push-to-talk feature, because it's basically the same thing. Zoom clearly doesn't revolutionize this feature, but it makes it available during video conferencing, which is useful every time users want to mix during meetings but don't want to keep ringing for a long time.
Cisco Webex has similar capabilities, and although Microsoft Teams widely launched the Walkie Talkie feature earlier this year, it's not something that can be used during video conferencing.
Google says it will start rolling out its own shortcut version to all Workspace users on September 9, but it may take up to 15 days for you to view it. Once it arrives, the feature won't be enabled by default, so you should enable it from the Google Meet settings.
