2022 BWF World Championships: Asa Ahsan/Hendra Sabet Fourth Title, Kandas In The Hand Of The Malaysian Deputy

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's doubles Asa, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan to win the fourth world title failed. They were defeated by representatives of Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik in the final.

In a meeting at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Japan, Sunday, August 28 at noon WIB, Ahsan/Hendra fell after 40 minutes of the match. The third seeded men's doubles gave up with the final scores 19-21 and 14-21.

At the beginning of the first game, Ahsan/Hendra managed to take the lead through three points. The situation then continued to side with The Daddies because they could close the initial interval with an 11-7 advantage.

After the first half, it was Malaysia's turn to try to turn things around. This time, Aaron/Sih immediately appeared to be pressing and managed to reduce the lag to 9-11.

However, the situation was being pursued by Ahsan/Hendra in order to minimize Malaysia's chances of qualifying as a winner. Unfortunately, the end of the first game actually took Aaron/Sih's side because they won 21-19.

Entering the second game, the Malaysian pair dominated first because they were able to get the first point. However, Ahsan/Hendra were able to turn superior to 3-1.

Unfortunately, Ahsan's anticipatory error made Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik able to equalize to 3-3. The situation is getting more and more precarious for the Indonesian representatives because Ahsan/Hendra were even behind 9-11 in the second interval.

After the second game interval, instead of being able to lead Ahsan/Hendra's more points, it was difficult to penetrate the Chia/Soh defense. Ahsan/Hendra's struggle finally disappeared because they lost with a score of 14-21 in the second game.

This defeat dashed Ahsan/Hendra's hopes of winning the title as their fourth world champion. In fact, The Daddies have collected these three titles in 2013, 2015, and 2019.
