Qualifying For The 2022 BWF World Championships Final After Getting Rid Of Junior, Hendra/Ahsan: It Feels Good And Sad At The Same Time

JAKARTA - Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan stepped into the final round of the 2022 BWF World Championships, Saturday, August 27. Tickets to the top party were achieved after eliminating their compatriots, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

The Daddies pair ended the junior pair's resistance with the final score 23-22, 12-21, and 21-16.

"It feels happy and sad, because we beat our own friends, close friends too," Ahsan said after the match, as reported by Antara.

"Yesterday I said that I could enter the semifinals, I didn't expect it to enter the final, it felt more and more surprised," continued Ahsan.

Mental quality and fighting power are the keys to the success of The Daddies in winning tickets to the final. Even though they were left behind, this senior couple was able to remain consistent until they could turn things around.

"In the first game, I think we fell behind quite a bit, but we tried not to give up and tried to change the strategy," Ahsan said.

"Earlier, we tried to hold on to the front, play net first because if you played long and the drive would lose quickly and lose energy too," said Hendra, adding.

In the title fight party, Hendra/Ahsan will face the sixth seeded men's doubles from Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik. Aaron/Soh qualified for the final by defeating Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty from India.
