For The Sake Of Security, The Route Of The IAEA Mission To The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Will Not Be Disclosed
JAKARTA - The authorities will not reveal the route taken by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission to reach the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN).
The main consideration is the safety factor. In addition, the route prepared is also not only one, but there are several that are analyzed by local authorities.
"There are several routes, which are not disclosed for the safety of the delegation," said Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the civil-military government of the Zaporizhzhia Region in response to questions on the matter.
According to him, the local government is ready to guarantee the highest level of security. The official added that the military-civilian administration in the region has considerable experience in ensuring the security of humanitarian missions and delegates numbering several dozen people, including journalists, community activists and politicians.
As previously reported, the IAEA will visit the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Ukraine in the coming days, if talks to gain access are successful.
"I continue to consult very actively and intensively with all parties," International Atomic Energy Agency head Rafael Grossi said in a statement.
"The mission (to Zaporizhzhia) is expected to take place in the next few days, if the ongoing negotiations are successful," he said.
