Banten Police Search 10 Citra Raya Tangerang Shophouses Online Gambling Headquarters Earning Billions Of Rupiah Per Day

TANGERANG - The Banten Police Ditreskrimum Team searched a number of shophouses for the operational headquarters of online gambling activities in the Citra Raya area, Tangerang Regency.

The Head of Sub-Directorate General of the Banten Police, Kompol Akbar Baskoro, said there were more than 10 shop houses used for online gambling operations in the Tangerang Regency area, based on the information of the suspect RM.

"There are more than 10 shop houses used for this gambling business," said Akbar in his statement, Friday, August 26.

When the search was carried out, there was no activity in the shop. But the police secure the WiFi network through other devices as a supporting tool to access the internet.

"Besides the shophouse, we also reconstructed a house. The house is a place to operate the gambling equipment," he said.

Based on information, Akbar revealed that the turnover of the 10 shophouses averaged Rp3.9 billion per day.

"As for their turnover target, the average per day is IDR 3.9 billion," he concluded.

Previously, the Banten Police revealed gambling cases, both online and conventional, with 65 suspects from 29 cases.

The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Shinto Silitonga, said that of the 65 suspects arrested, there was one woman who was also involved in the online gambling.

The woman had the initials RM alias Ningsih (26) who turned out to have a significant role in the gambling syndicate.

"On August 13, 2022, the Banten Police released the disclosure of 10 gambling cases with 24 suspects. And today, Thursday (25 August), we uncovered 29 gambling cases and 65 suspects, both committed by the Ditreskrimum of the Banten Police and the ranks of the Police," said Shinto.

Shinto said the amount of money seized from this gambling crime was almost 1 billion.

"From the disclosure of these 29 gambling cases, investigators managed to confiscate Rp947,585,500 of money, the most from an online gambling syndicate under the guise of an advertising company amounting to Rp931 million. However, it turns out that the company opened 50 websites which were apparently used not for advertising service promotions but for various online gambling slots, " he said.
