New Zealand Has Successfully Identified The Child's Body In The Suitcase, Will Not Be Revealed To The Public

JAKARTA - New Zealand has confirmed the identities of two children whose bodies were found in a suitcase, but will not be disclosed at the request of the family, police said Friday.

New Zealand detectives have continued to investigate this case, since the bodies of the two were found two weeks ago and caused a stir in the public.

The gruesome discovery came after an unsuspecting family purchased items in the trailer, including luggage, at an auction for abandoned items near Auckland, the country's largest city.

Police said the family who bought the suitcases were not related to the death. The children are believed to be of elementary school age when they died, according to police.

A coroner has issued an order not to publish any evidence that could reveal the identities of the children, detective inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said, citing CNA Aug. 26.

On Monday, police in the South Korean capital Seoul told AFP they had found a woman believed to be linked to the children.

He arrived in South Korea in 2018 and has no record of leaving the country since that year, Seoul police said.

"New Zealand police have asked for confirmation as to whether a person who may be linked to the crime is in South Korea," the police officer said, adding that given her address and age, she could be the mother of the children.
