Kekeh Refuses To Be Vaccinated Against COVID-19, Novak Djokovic Announces That He Will Not Appear At The 2022 US Open
JAKARTA - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he will miss the 2022 US Open, 29 August - 11 September. This is related to his decision regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
It's no secret that Djokovic is an anti-vaccine figure. To date, the former world number one has not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19.
That made it certain that he could not travel to the United States to take part in the tournament there. The reason is that the policy in Uncle Sam's country requires immigrants to have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
"Unfortunately, this time I can't travel to NY (New York) for the US Open. Good luck my fellow players," he tweeted on his official Twitter account.
"I will continue to train and in a positive spirit and wait for the opportunity to compete again," he continued, as reported by Antara.
Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for the US Open. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support. ❤️ Good luck to my fellow players! I'll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again. See you soon tennis world! ️

This is not the first time Djokovic has missed a tournament due to his decision to refuse vaccination. In early 2022, he failed to defend his Australian Open title after being deported for his vaccine status.
Djokovic once said he understood the consequences of his decision. He admitted that he was ready to lose the opportunity to play in a tournament that required participants to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
