KPK Indicates Unila Chancellor's Bribery Is Not Just One Person
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) indicated that there was not only one person who gave the bribe to the Chancellor of the University of Lampung (Unila) Karomani (KRM).
"Logically and in the construction of this case, it is impossible for one person (bribe). Then one person (briber) yesterday has already been determined," said KPK News Section Head Ali Fikri at the KPK building, Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 25.
The KRM briber who has been named a suspect is Andi Desfiandi (AD) as a private party.
AD as one of the families of the prospective new student selection participants through the independent channel at Unila allegedly gave Rp150 million because the family member was declared graduated with KRM assistance.
Meanwhile, said Ali, the evidence that has been shown from the activities of arresting KRM and his friends is almost IDR 5 billion. In addition, the KPK has also secured around IDR 2.5 billion in cash from searches at the home of KRM and other parties related to the case.
"If today it increases by Rp. 2.5 billion, it means that there is Rp. 7.5 billion, which is then an indication of acceptance in this independent bribery," he said.
The KPK will investigate other parties suspected of giving bribes to KRM.
"Therefore, we will wait. We hope to be patient because every development we will certainly convey, we will publish it as a form of transparency of the KPK's work," said Ali.
The KPK has named four suspects in the alleged bribery case for accepting new students at Unila. Three suspects as recipients of bribes are Karomani (KRM), Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Unila Heryandi (HY), and Chair of the Unila Senate Muhammad Basri (MB). While the bribe giver is Andi Desfiandi (AD).
In the construction of the case, the KPK explained that KRM, who served as Chancellor of Unila for the 2020-2024 period, had the authority regarding the mechanism for the Independent Selection to Enter the University of Lampung (Simanila) for the 2022 Academic Year.
During the Simanila process, the KPK suspected that KRM was directly involved in determining graduation by ordering HY, Head of the Planning and Public Relations Bureau of Unila Budi Sutomo, and MB to make a "personal" selection regarding the ability of student parents.
If you want to be declared passed, prospective students can be "assisted" by submitting a certain amount of money, in addition to the official money paid according to the specified mechanism to the university.
In addition, KRM is also suspected of giving special roles and tasks for HY, MB, and Budi Sutomo to collect an amount of money that was agreed with the parents of prospective new students. The amount of the money varies from Rp. 100 million to Rp. 350 million for each parent of the selection participants who want to graduate.
All the money that KRM collected through Mualimin from the parents of the prospective students amounted to Rp. 603 million and has been used for KRM's personal needs of around Rp. 575 million.
The Corruption Eradication Commission also found that KRM received some money through Budi Sutomo and MB from the parents of prospective students who were graduated by KRM on the orders of KRM.
The money has been diverted in the form of time deposits, gold bars, and is still kept in cash for a total of around Rp. 4.4 billion.
