PALEMBANG - An individual member of the DPRD for Palembang City, South Sumatra, M Syukri Zen (MSZ) is threatened with being fired from the Gerindra party after being named a suspect in a case of alleged abuse of a woman some time ago.
The chairman of the Palembang Gerindra Party DPC Akbar Alfaro said his party had issued a recommendation letter for the dismissal of MSZ (55) from party cadres and also members of the Palembang City DPRD for the 2019-2024 period to the Gerindra Central Executive Board.
"We have prepared the administration, the dismissal recommendations will be consolidated in the Gerindra Party Court hearing, tomorrow Friday in Jakarta," Akbar said when confirmed by telephone in Palembang, Antara, Thursday, August 25.
According to him, the dismissal recommendation is a form of firmness from the Gerindra Palembang DPC for the disgraceful act committed by MSZ.
Even the actions of the senior politician born in 1956 have caught the attention of party leaders at the central level who have a line of struggle to prioritize the interests of the general public, not hurt them.
"Because this issue has damaged the party's good name, we have not provided legal assistance (to MSZ)," said Akbar, adding that his party provided medical assistance for women who were victims of MSZ abuse.
He added that the fate of MSZ's membership as party cadres and legislators in the Palembang City DPRD will be determined at the Gerindra Party Court hearing which will be held in Jakarta tomorrow.
Previously, the Head of Palembang Polrestabes Police Commissioner Mokhamad Ngajib said an individual member of the DPRD with the initials MSZ was a suspect in a case of alleged abuse of a woman with the initials J (31) at a gas station on Jalan Demang Lebar Daun, Palembang, last Friday, August 5. .
"His status is a suspect. Last night he was arrested. Currently, the suspect is being investigated at the Palembang Police Headquarters," he said.
He explained that the determination of the suspect's status was carried out after investigators listened to the testimony of a Palembang DPRD member with the initials MSZ who was forcibly picked up on Wednesday (24/8) night.
Investigators also pocketed enough evidence, including CCTV video footage, collecting witness statements, and visum et repertum results for victims of abuse.
"There is a match between the evidence and witness statements with the post-mortem results. The victim suffered bruises on his face, hands and fingers," he said.
According to Ngajib, victim J experienced the abuse while waiting in line to refuel his car at the Demang Lebar Daun gas station, Palembang.
According to the witness, the suspect MSZ allegedly grabbed the victim's car that had been in line first. Victim J who felt offended then got out of the car to reprimand the suspect MSZ.
Then the suspect MSZ got out of his CRV car numbered BG 7 UB and immediately beat victim J.
The act of abuse carried out by the suspect MZ was recorded in an amateur video of 15 seconds in duration from a resident who was also queuing for fuel at the gas station, which then went viral on various social media channels.
After the video went viral on social media in recent days, suspect MZ apologized to victim J and the public for his actions in beating and molesting women.
The report of alleged abuse by an individual member of the Palembang DPRD was previously reported by victim J to the Ilir Barat 1 Police, but until finally the case was taken over by the Palembang Polrestabes.
For this action, the suspect MSZ is suspected of violating Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution with a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment.
