Road Connecting 3 Villages In Mamasa Sulbar Breaks Due To Flood
MAMUJU - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi coordinated with relevant stakeholders to repair roads connecting three villages that were cut off due to flooding.
"Currently, we are still coordinating with related parties to repair the broken road access that connects three villages in Aralle District," said Head of BPBD Daily Mamasa Labora Tandipuang as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 24.
Floods that hit three villages in Aralle Sub-district on Tuesday (23/8) afternoon, caused the connection road in three villages to be cut off. The three villages are North Ralleanak, Kala'be, and Baruru.
Labora explained that the flood caused by the overflow of the local river also caused several school buildings, houses and rice fields belonging to residents to be submerged.
The incident made residents panic and were shocked because the rain that flushed the area did not last long.
"The flood that occurred yesterday (23/8), is starting to recede today. However, it is the road access that has been cut off that we are currently coordinating with the West Sulawesi Provincial BPBD and related stakeholders," said Labora.
The Head of the West Sulawesi Regional Police, Inspector General Verdianto I. Bitticaca, has monitored the flood locations in the three villages.
"Since the first day of the flood, we have deployed a joint team to evacuate and help flood victims. Today (24/8), we set up a public kitchen to help the needs of flood-affected residents," said Verdianto.
During the visit to the flood location in Aralle District, the Kapolda provided assistance for basic needs.
