Ministry Of Social Affairs Sends 2 Thousand Food Packages For Flood Victims In Sorong City

SORONG - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has sent as many as 2,000 packages of ready-to-eat food for flood victims in Sorong City, West Papua.

Head of the Social Service Fauzi Fattah said the local government had reported floods and landslides to the Ministry of Social Affairs and responded immediately.

According to him, the Ministry of Social Affairs immediately sent as many as 2,000 packages of ready-to-eat food ingredients by plane that arrived Wednesday (24/8) this afternoon in Sorong City.

"The ready-to-eat food items were sent from the nearest Ministry of Social granary warehouse in Jayapura, Papua," said Fauzi, as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 24.

In addition to ready-to-eat food ingredients, 1000 packages of ready-to-eat side dishes were also sent, 750 packages of children's meals, 1,000 sheets of blankets, and 500 packages of baby clothes.

On this day, continued Fauzi, the Ministry of Social Affairs sent a team of two people and was already in the city of Sorong to conduct an assessment of landslide victims.

"The assessment is related to assistance, both compensation for victims of life and assistance for building materials damaged by landslides," said Fauzi.
