Metro Police Turns To Dismantle Online Gambling Groups At PIK, 78 People Become Suspects
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya uncovered online gambling practices in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, North Jakarta. In this disclosure, 78 people were named as suspects.
"They searched the PIK and arrested 78 people, and some of them have been named as suspects," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Tuesday, August 23.
However, Zulpan was reluctant to reveal the identities and roles of the dozens of people named by the suspect.
It was only conveyed that the disclosure of the case was a follow-up to the direction of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to eradicate 'diseases' in society, one of which was gambling.
"We will announce it in a release at a certain time. The team is working every day to optimize orders from the National Police Chief to eradicate all online gambling in the community," said Zulpan.
On a separate occasion, the Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Auliansyah Lubis said that the case was revealed on Friday, August 12, in the early hours of the morning.
The gambling group used their home office (Rukan) as a place to carry out their actions. The goal is to avoid police surveillance.
"Disclosure at Rukan Exclusive Blok E number 39A Bukit Golf Mediterania Jalan Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta," said Auliansyah.
