KPU: No Officer Updating Voters' Data For The 2020 Pilkada Exposed To COVID-19
JAKARTA - General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Viryan Aziz claims that no voter data updating officer (PPDP) for the 2020 Pilkada has been infected with COVID-19. Even though they went into the field during the pandemic.
"The KPU has carried out the stages of updating voter data, assisted by PPDP, which have worked well and no one has been exposed to COVID-19," Viryan told reporters, Friday, November 19.
Viryan said, the voter data updating process was carried out by adding or subtracting voters according to real conditions in the field.
He said, in the process of updating voter data on 11 November, there were 1,754,751 voters who had not recorded their electronic KTP (e-KTP) based on the recapitulation of reports from the regional KPU.
Then, until November 18, the KPU carried out the matching of SIAK Dukcapil data. "From the results of matching the data, only 1 percent of voters who have not recorded their e-KTP or found 1,052,010 voters," said Viryan.
Viryan hopes that all citizens who qualify as voters have recorded their e-KTP. Based on Article 57 of Law Number 10 of 2016, Indonesian citizens must be registered as voters in order to elect the regional head they support, "said Viryan.
"In the event that Indonesian citizens are not registered as voters, at the time of voting they show their e-KTP. As long as they are registered, voters have the right to exercise their voting rights," he said.
Furthermore, Viryan said that the KPU continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registry to complete e-KTP records.
"We are also planning the formation of a coordinating team that technically takes care of the DPT until voting day," added Viryan.
