Saudi Arabia Wants Usyk Vs Fury Title The Day Before Qatar World Cup Final
JAKARTA - Tyson Fury is ready to return to the ring. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk insists he will only fight again against the Gypsy King. It fits. Reportedly, this grand duel will be held in Saudi Arabia.
Usyk just beat Anthony Joshua in a rematch last weekend. After the duel, Usyk declared himself ready to fight Fury.
Fury himself claims his team are discussing a fight worth more than 100 million euros, the amount Usyk and Joshua received at the weekend.
Given the scale of this unification fight, both Fury and Usyk and their respective teams want to halve the 150 million euro fee.
The main bidder for the biggest boxing match in recent years is Saudi Arabia.
According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the fight will take place on December 17, the night before the World Cup final in Qatar.
"We are very interested in the undeniable heavyweight title fight. We would be interested in hosting it in the city of Riyadh," Saudi Arabia's sports minister HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud said after last Saturday's bout in Jeddah.
If December 17th is not successful, the event will likely be postponed for several months.
The heavyweight division itself hasn't had an undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis and, whenever that possibility arose, always ended in failure due to a lack of agreement among promoters.
