Government Builds Jakarta Sewerage System Zone 1 Next Year, Budget Is IDR 185 Billion
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will build a domestic wastewater management system or Jakarta Sewerage System (JSS) next year. The construction of the JSS was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of PUPR.
In the initial stage, the government will build JSS zone 1 with a budget of Rp. 185 billion, sourced from the DKI Jakarta Regional Budget. The development also involves the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
"This JSS is included in the list of National Strategic Projects and Regional Strategic Activities of DKI Jakarta Province," wrote the DKI Provincial Government in the DKI Jakarta Instagram account, quoted on Tuesday, August 23.
The urban scale centralized domestic wastewater management system (SPALD-T) development project in DKI Jakarta Province consists of the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) and a pipeline network.
It is targeted that JSS zone 1 will be able to serve wastewater management in a number of areas, namely Tambora District, Taman Sari District, Gambir District, Tanah Abang District, Sawah Besar District, Penjaringan District, and Pademangan District.
Later, JSS will operate using anoxic anaerobic oxic technology and a membrane bioreactor. The construction, which is targeted to be completed in 2027, has a WWTP capacity of 240 thousand cubic meters per day.
There are a number of functions in the operation of JSS, namely improving water quality and preventing water-borne diseases. Then, increase the scope of management and access to wastewater services through the piping and interceptor systems.
"JSS also aims to improve the quality of the environment, especially the quality of surface water, groundwater, and alternative sources of raw water," he wrote.
In addition, JSS is also useful as a means of educating the public to participate in creating a healthy environment in activities such as bathing, washing, and other household activities.
