Similar To Apple, Microsoft Adds Number Of Ads In Outlook Android And IOS Apps

JAKARTA - Just like Apple, it seems that Microsoft is also expanding its advertising display in the Microsoft Outlook application. Outlook is a popular email service from Microsoft which has been downloaded by more than 500 million users because of its free service.

However, in the last month or so the tech giant has added more ads to Microsoft Outlook on iOS and Android. If you are unfamiliar with the Outlook application, when you open the application, you will see two filter options for the inbox. The first is "Focused" and the other is "Other".

The "Focused" tab will only display emails that are considered important, while the "Other" tab will display all emails.

At first, free users would only see ads in the Outlook app on the Other tab, but now things have changed. You even see ads in the Focused tab too.

Microsoft confirmed the change to The Verge, and said that the ads that appear in the Focused inbox can be managed.

"For free Outlook users, ads are shown in their inbox, and they can choose to enable the 'Focused inbox' feature if they only want to see ads in their Other inbox," Microsoft spokeswoman Caitlin Roulston said in a statement.

Ads appearing at the top of your inbox can be removed by swiping around, just like deleting emails. The difference is, the ad will immediately reappear.
