Unila Chancellor Affected By KPK OTT, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Orders Evaluation Of PTN New Student Admissions
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked for a thorough evaluation of the admissions process for new students (maba) at state universities (PTN) that allows for "holes" of corruption.
"Yes, I think we really have to evaluate it. There is something that turns out to be something like a hole that can be used to carry out a bad movement, corruption," said Ma'ruf Amin in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 22.
Ma'ruf Amin said this when responding to a hand arrest operation (OTT) by the KPK, Friday (19/8), against the Chancellor of the University of Lampung (Unila) Karomani (KRM), Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Heryandi (HY), Senate Chair Muhammad Basri (MB), and Andi Desfiandi (AD) as the private party giving bribes.
The four people have also been named as suspects by the KPK related to the alleged bribery case of accepting new student candidates (maba) through the independent path for the 2022 Academic Year at Unila.
"So of course we have to do an evaluation to close these holes, these holes, so that it doesn't happen again. I think the government will do that so hopefully (corruption) won't happen again," continued Ma'ruf Amin.
Unila opened a special path for the Independent Selection to Enter the University of Lampung (Simanila) for the 2022 Academic Year, where Karomani as the Chancellor of Unila for the 2020-2024 period has the authority regarding the mechanism for the admission of the self-selection students.
During the Simanila process, the KPK suspected that Karomani was actively involved in determining the graduation of the participants, by ordering HY and the Head of the Planning and Public Relations Bureau of Unila Budi Sutomo, and involving MB to participate in personal selection regarding the ability of students' parents.
If you want to be declared passed, the parents of prospective students can be assisted by submitting a sum of money, in addition to the official money paid according to the mechanism of the university.
The amount of the money varies with the range of Rp. 100 million - Rp. 350 million for each prospective new student. All the money that Karomani collected through Mualimin as a lecturer amounted to Rp. 603 million and has been used for personal purposes of around Rp. 575 million.
The money has been diverted in the form of time deposits, gold bars, and is still kept in cash for a total of around Rp. 4.4 billion.
