The Opening Scene Of House Of Dragon Is Protested By The Audience, The Director Opens His Voice
JAKARTA - House of the Dragon starts airing today, Monday, August 22, 2022 and will focus more on the problems of the Targaryen family. The story begins with King King Viserys Targaryen played by Paddy Considine considering who will be the heir to the throne, his younger brother Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) or his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy).
However, a new potential challenger for the throne appeared. Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower, Princess Rhaenyra's longtime best friend, who marries the king after his wife dies in childbirth.
House of Dragon opens with a scene where Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke) is trying to give birth to a boy who is prepared to be the successor to Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) on Iron Throne.
But the situation becomes complicated when he is faced with two choices, save his wife or child, and he chooses to save his son which results in the death of his wife.
The audience who saw the scene felt uncomfortable so Director Miguel Sapochnik gave an explanation regarding the selection of the scene.
"Aemma said, 'Laternity is our battlefield.' We found it an interesting way to explore the fact that for a woman in medieval times, childbirth was war. It's as dangerous as it is. You have a 50/50 chance of succeeding. A lot of women don't. If given the choice, the father would choose the child. than mom because caesarean section will kill you," quoted from independent, Monday, August 22.
"That's a really cruel part of life. We had a number of births on the show and basically decided to give them a different theme and explore it from a different perspective the same way I did for a bunch of battles on Thrones, where every time I try to put a different story idea in each one so it doesn't just do the same thing, because I don't think putting a bunch of violence on screen for the sake of violence is pointless in the world," he said.
