If They Want Their House To Be Ransacked, The Community Must Be Active In Reporting
JAKARTA - The community is expected to actively report if there is a house that is unfit for habitation in the area where they live, so that the house can receive house renovation assistance through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance Program (BSPS).
"If there is a house that is unfit for habitation in the vicinity of his residence, please immediately report it to the RT so that it is proposed to the local government to receive housing assistance from the Ministry of PUPR," said Director General of Housing Provision of the Ministry of PUPR, Khalawi Abdul Hamid, in a written statement, Thursday, January 23.
According to Khalawi, the implementation of house renovation through the BSPS Program carried out by the Ministry of PUPR is believed to be able to increase the enthusiasm of the community to work together to build houses that are livable.
According to him, people who are economically able are also expected to be able to help those who live in houses that are not suitable for habitation. In addition, he continued, the stimulant assistance provided by the PUPR Ministry coupled with financial assistance and manpower from relatives, children and neighbors is also very useful to accelerate the development process.
"Alhamdulillah, the response of the people receiving assistance from the Regional Heads such as the Regent, Mayor, Governor, DPRD and DPR as well as housing experts to the BSPS Program is very positive," he said.
Khalawi added that the government also hopes that the private sector can also participate in the Home Improvement Program through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program related to handling unfit for housing, and the Regional Government can also send data on uninhabitable houses in their area to the PUPR Ministry.
Previously, the PUPR Ministry asked local governments to replicate the house renovation program or Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) to reduce the number of uninhabitable houses (RTLH) in the regions.
According to Khalawi, the BSPS program is currently considered to be one of the housing programs that can be directly felt by the community so that they can occupy a livable house.
Khalawi explained that the handling of RTLH in Indonesia can run well if there is good collaboration, especially the housing program both at central and regional levels. For this reason, the Regional Government in its APBD is expected to be able to allocate a budget for housing programs for the community.
"Through the BSPS program which is carried out in groups, the community is also asked to work together so that together they can improve the quality of their houses. Hundreds of thousands of houses have been upgraded. If previously they were not suitable for habitation, they can now become livable with the BSPS Program," he said.
For information, based on existing data at the Directorate General of Housing Provision, the types and amounts of assistance funds according to the Minister of Public Works and Housing Decree No. 158 / KPTS / M / 2019 regarding the value and location of the BSPS are divided into two.
The first is the improvement of the quality of self-help houses (PKRS) in the provincial area of Rp. 17.5 million, with details of Rp. 15 million in building materials and Rp. 2.5 million in wages.
The PKRS specifically for small and mountainous islands in Papua and West Papua provinces is IDR 35 million consisting of IDR 30 million building materials and IDR 5 million working wages.
