Unila Chancellor's Alleged Corruption Case: Kemendikbudristek Ready To Cooperate With KPK

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) regrets the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) hand arrest operation against the Chancellor of the University of Lampung (Unila).

“Kemendikbudristek deeply regrets the OTT of the Chancellor of Unila. If it is proven to have committed corruption, it will seriously injure the dignity of universities as the nation's moral and ethical guard in eradicating corruption," said Acting Head of the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Anang Ristanto, as quoted by Antara in Jakarta, Sunday (21/8) 2022.

Previously, the KPK conducted an OTT against the Chancellor of Unila, Prof. Dr. Karomani and named him a suspect.

Apart from Karomani, Heryandi who served as Vice Chancellor I for Academic Affairs at Unila, Muhammad Basri as Chair of the Senate of the University of Lampung, and Andi Desfiandi from the private sector was also named as a suspect.

The arrest was initiated from a public report regarding the admission of new students at the state campus.

He added that his party would cooperate with the KPK to resolve the corruption case.

"Kemendikbudristek is ready to work with the KPK to resolve this case and will also continue to cooperate with the KPK in eradicating corruption in Indonesia, including in higher education institutions," said Anang Ristanto.
