Leon Edwards New UFC Welterweight Champion After KO Kamaru Usman

JAKARTA — Leon Edwards has become the new UFC welterweight champion after a knockout (KO) win over Kamaru Usman. The second duel of these two fighters at UFC 278 ended dramatically in the fifth round at Vivint Arena, United States, on Sunday, August 21 morning WIB. Leon Edwards, nicknamed Rocky, secured victory after knocking his opponent down with a head kick. Kamaru Usman was actually still ahead in the fourth round. Unfortunately, 56 seconds before the end of the match Edwards made a surprise that ended in Usman falling. Edwards started his trick by pretending to hit with his right hand, then followed by a trick to beat him with his left hand.

However, he suddenly released a hard kick with his left foot. The kick hit the right side of Usman's head. This victory was the result of Edwards' revenge against the Nigerian-American mixed martial arts fighter. Previously, Edwards lost points to Usman in their 2015 duel.
