Police Name 4 Suspects Including 2 Women In Firearms Cases And 8 Bullets In Idi Prison, East Aceh
BANDA ACEH - The East Aceh Resort Police (Polres) have named four suspects for the discovery of an improvised short-barreled firearm and eight bullets or ammunition at the Class IIB Idi Correctional Institution, East Aceh Regency.
East Aceh Police Chief AKBP Andy Rahmansyah said the four suspects were two inmates and two prison visitors.
"The two inmates who are the suspects are the initials H and M. Meanwhile, the two visitors to the prison, namely IR and FA, are both residents of East Aceh," said AKBP Andy Rahmansyah, Friday, August 19.
Both inmates H and M are suspected of possessing and storing firearms. Meanwhile, IR and FA, both women, were suspected of smuggling firearms into the prison.
Based on the results of the investigation, the FA smuggled firearms by slipping the sensitive parts during a visit as a guest to the Class IIB Idi Prison.
"Suspect FA is M's boyfriend and IR's wife H. Both of them managed to smuggle the firearms, even though both were questioned by prison officers," he said.
Then, the firearm was handed over to suspect H and then hidden by suspect M. However, the firearm was finally found by prison officers during the inspection of the inmates' rooms.
The suspects were threatened with Article 1 of the Emergency Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 1951.
"Criminal punishment with a maximum sentence of life or 20 years in prison. Investigators are trying to uncover where the suspect got the firearm," he added.
